Asylum seekers impacted by ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy
Since the “Remain in Mexico” policy, known officially as “Migrant Protection Protocols,” was implemented in 2019, nearly 60,000 asylum seekers have been turned back from the U.S. after their hearings and have been told to wait in Mexico. NBC News’ Alexa Liautaud heads to migrant camp Matamoros to learn about how people are living and the affect the policy is having on them.
